Lil Nas X gets candid on sexuality, says he won’t 'limit himself'
The singer came out publicly in 2019 and continues to speak openly about identity and growth
Lil Nas X is speaking candidly about his sexuality, offering a nuanced reflection on identity and attraction in a newly released interview.
The Grammy-winning artist, born Montero Hill, said he identifies as gay but acknowledged that he has occasionally experienced emotional feelings toward women.
The interview, recorded in February 2025 on TS Madison’s Outlaws podcast, was released on April 21.
“I’m gay, but if something happens, I’m not going to stop myself,” he said, adding that he remains open to life experiences. “I mean, if the right f—— person comes along…”
Hill explained that while his attraction is predominantly toward men, he does not completely rule out other possibilities.
“I’m interested in certain women every now and then, but I 99% lean toward men,” he said.
When asked directly about sexual experiences with women, he clarified, “I’m not saying I wouldn’t… if it’s a drunk night and something happens, yeah, maybe.” However, he added that he has “never had sex with a girl.”
He also noted that his feelings toward women have largely been emotional rather than physical. “Mostly emotional… not sexual, usually,” he said.
Alongside his comments on sexuality, Lil Nas X reflected on his personal growth and mental well-being.
He said he has been on a journey of self-acceptance, learning to embrace every part of himself rather than forcing change.
“I had to really go on a self-love journey again,” he said. “And accept every single part of me… and stop trying to force change in myself all the time.”
The Old Town Road hitmaker publicly came out as gay in June 2019, later revealing he had once considered keeping his sexuality private for life.
Since then, he has continued to speak openly about identity, fame and personal evolution.
