Olivia Munn recalls difficult move at 16, reveals message to her younger self

Olivia Munn has looked back on a challenging chapter of her teenage years, offering heartfelt advice she wishes she could have given her younger self.

In a recent interview with People, the actress opened up about the difficulties she faced after moving to Oklahoma at the age of 16, a transition she described as one of the toughest periods of her life.

“I came back at 16 years old, the most difficult time to enter a new school. I had a really difficult time meeting friends,” Munn shared, recalling how isolating the experience felt at the time.

Her circumstances began to shift when a classmate, Jenny Marsden, extended a simple but meaningful gesture of friendship.

“There was one girl named Jenny Marsden who asked me to be her friend and hang out,” she said, crediting the moment as a turning point during a lonely phase.

That friendship also led to an unexpected source of inspiration. Marsden’s brother, who was acting on a CBS show, made a lasting impression on Munn when they met.

“He was so impactful to me and the way I was thinking,” she explained. “I thought, ‘I’m going to lock in… I’m not listening. I’m going to keep going.’”

Reflecting on those formative years, Munn admitted she often wishes she could reassure her younger self during moments of uncertainty and self-doubt.

“I really wish that I could go back in time and tell the 16-year-old me… that it’s going to get so fun,” she said, adding that many of her dreams ultimately came true.
