Jacob Elordi displaces Timothée Chalamet as the Face of Bleu de Chanel
The Euphoria star succeeds Timothée Chalamet as ambassador for Chanel's iconic men's fragrance
Chanel has named Australian actor Jacob Elordi as the new ambassador for Bleu de Chanel, the French fashion house's best-selling men's fragrance, succeeding Timothée Chalamet in the role.
Elordi, best known for his role in HBO's Euphoria and as the lead in Guillermo del Toro's upcoming Frankenstein, brings a different energy to the campaign.
Chanel's Creative Resources Director for Fragrance, Beauty, Watches, and Jewellery, Thomas du Pré de Saint-Maur, described the actor as "the boy of the moment," citing his physical presence alongside a sense of sensitivity and ease.
The Bleu de Chanel fragrance, launched in 2010, has built its campaign identity around themes of personal freedom and masculine independence.
Previous ambassadors included Gaspard Ulliel and Chalamet, with campaign films directed by Martin Scorsese, James Gray, and Steve McQueen.
The new chapter is expected to carry a more action-driven, less solemn tone.
Elordi is not new to the Chanel universe. He appeared alongside Margot Robbie in the Chanel N°5 campaign two years ago, directed by Luca Guadagnino.
He also drew attention when he wore a Chanel women's tweed jacket while promoting the film Wuthering Heights. He is said to be close to Chanel's artistic director Matthieu Blazy.
No release date for the new campaign has been announced.
