Madonna's spellbinding Met Gala 2026 red carpet style features a coven
Madonna dazzled Monday at Met Gala 2026 red carpet in a black lace gown by Saint Laurent
Following her viral Coachella appearance and leading up to the much-anticipated “Confessions II” album release this summer, Madonna dazzled Monday at the Met Gala 2026 red carpet in a black lace gown by Saint Laurent and charcoal satin gloves.
The 67-year-old music icon paid homage to the “Costume Art” theme, swapping her signature blond hair for a black wig while sporting a pirate ship-inspired headpiece with a flowing, sheer gray cape.
Seven attendants in satin gowns and sheer masks accompanied Madonna, holding her cape.
The Grammy-awarded singer enhanced her mystical appearance with bold rings, a sparkling necklace, and chunky black boots, completing her ensemble with a horn-like instrument.
The renowned style was inspired by Leonora Carrington’s 1945 artwork, "The Temptation of St. Anthony. Fragment II."
Madonna was also seen posing with Belgian designer Anthony Vaccarello at one point.
Last year, the “Material Girl” artist embraced the gala’s “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style” theme donning a cream, double-buttoned silk tuxedo from Tom Ford, accessorized with an unlit cigar and a gardenia on her lapel.
For 2018’s “Heavenly Bodies: Fashion & The Catholic Imagination”-themed event, Madonna went for a gothic vibe wearing an all-black ensemble by Jean Paul Gaultier, complete with a veiled net, a crown adorned with crosses, layered crucifix necklaces, and a bunch of black roses.
In 2013, the “Hung Up” sensation embraced the evening’s “Punk: Chaos to Couture” theme with a plaid blazer by Givenchy embellished with pyramid studs, paired with a bare-legged look.
Completing the outfit were a bobbed black wig, chain-adorned belt, torn fishnets, and revealing undergarments.
However, Madonna’s most daring and controversial Met Gala appearance was undoubtedly the bondage-inspired, revealing Givenchy outfit she wore in 2016, featuring sheer black lace, strategically placed cutouts, and millions of dollars in diamonds.
"Regarding women's rights, we're still in the Dark Ages," the superstar later expressed on Instagram about the outfit, which she described as both "a political and fashion statement."
"The notion that a woman can't be daring or express her sexuality past a specific age is proof we still live in an ageist and sexist society," Madonna remarked. "I've never thought in a confined way, and I'm not about to begin."
