Shakira unveils official 2026 FIFA World Cup anthem Dai Dai

Shakira is returning to the FIFA World Cup stage with a brand-new anthem for the 2026 tournament, unveiling a teaser for the official song Dai Dai featuring Nigerian Afrobeats star Burna Boy.

The Colombian superstar shared a one-minute preview of the track on Instagram, filmed at the iconic Maracanã Stadium in Brazil.

In the teaser, Shakira performs alongside a group of dancers dressed in outfits inspired by national football teams participating in the upcoming tournament, while the singer herself wears Colombia’s signature yellow and blue colours.

“From Maracaná Stadium, here is ‘Dai Dai,’ the fifaworldcup Official Song 2026,” Shakira wrote in the post announcing the anthem.

The teaser quickly generated massive online attention, receiving nearly two million likes within 24 hours. The full version of Dai Dai is scheduled for release on May 14.

The project marks Shakira’s second official FIFA World Cup anthem, following the global success of Waka Waka (This Time for Africa), which became one of the most recognisable football songs of all time during the 2010 tournament in South Africa.

She also previously performed an adapted version of Hips Don't Lie during the closing ceremony of the 2006 FIFA World Cup in Germany.

Released in 2010, “Waka Waka” achieved major commercial success worldwide, topping digital charts and becoming closely associated with the global football event.

The song remains one of Shakira’s signature hits and continues to be widely played during sporting celebrations.

The 2026 FIFA World Cup will be jointly hosted by United States, Canada, and Mexico.

The tournament is scheduled to begin on June 11, 2026, and will conclude with the final on July 19.

The upcoming edition will also be the largest in FIFA World Cup history, featuring 104 matches across multiple host cities throughout North America.

Notably, previous FIFA World Cup anthem performers have included global stars such as Pitbull, Jennifer Lopez, Nicky Jam, Will Smith and Jungkook.
