Kim Kardashian and Kanye West face fresh custody battle over daughter North
The former couple finalized their divorce in 2022 but continue to face co-parenting tensions
Kanye West has reportedly filed for full custody of his eldest daughter, North West, reigniting tensions with ex-wife Kim Kardashian over their children’s future.
According to recent reports, the rapper wants North to pursue a music career under the guidance of himself and his wife, Bianca Censori.
Sources claim West believes his daughter has the potential to become one of the world’s biggest musical artists.
The reported custody filing has allegedly left Kardashian blindsided, with the reality star said to be firmly against the idea.
Reports suggest Kim hopes North will follow a path closer to her own career in entertainment and reality television rather than entering the music industry at such a young age.
The former couple, who finalized their divorce in 2022, currently share joint legal custody of their four children — North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm.
Despite the agreement, Kardashian previously hinted at challenges surrounding co-parenting during an appearance on the Call Her Daddy podcast last year. Speaking candidly, she claimed she was largely raising the children on her own.
“It’s probably been a couple months since we’ve heard from him,” Kardashian told host Alex Cooper at the time.
West has also publicly voiced frustrations over parenting arrangements in recent months. Earlier this year, the rapper posted — and later deleted — comments on X accusing Kardashian of limiting his ability to parent his children.
Kardashian later appeared to address the ongoing tensions during season seven of The Kardashians, remarking, “It’s a divorce, not a kidnapping.”
Neither West nor Kardashian has publicly confirmed the reported custody filing, but the latest claims have once again placed the former couple’s co-parenting relationship under public scrutiny.
