Deep Purple announce twenty-fourth studio album titled 'Splat' for July release
Rock icons Deep Purple will perform two nights in London during November
Deep Purple, the seminal pioneers of heavy metal and hard rock, have officially announced the release of their 24th studio album, Splat!, scheduled for 3 July 2026.
Frontman Ian Gillan, now 80, has described the upcoming record as a return to the band’s high-octane roots, suggesting it is one of their heaviest offerings in decades.
Produced by longtime collaborator Bob Ezrin, the album reportedly captures the improvisational spirit and raw power that defined the group's legendary 1969 to 1973 period.
"Where we are now with this incarnation of Deep Purple feels very much like a very 'now' version of Deep Purple as it was in the seventies," Gillan told NME.
He emphasised that the new tracks are "compatible with 'Highway Star' and 'Smoke on the Water'," highlighting a renewed focus on the dynamics and balance that cemented their place in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
To support the release, the band will embark on a massive 86-date world tour, beginning in Espoo, Finland, on 11 June.
The tour will traverse Europe, North America, and South America before concluding in Mexico City on 19 December.
The announcement comes as a testament to the band’s endurance, particularly for Gillan, who recently revealed he is living with only 30% of his vision.
Despite the challenges of using a laptop and navigating daily life, the vocalist remains undeterred. "You find a way. You adapt," he shared, noting that while retirement may be on the horizon, the band’s current creative peak is a "great place" to be.
The tour includes highly anticipated stops at London’s Eventim Apollo and the Royal Albert Hall in late November, marking a triumphant return to the venues that helped shape their storied history.
