Lady Gaga announces 'MAYHEM Requiem' concert film: A dark farewell to an era
Apple Music has sent fans into frenzy with surprise cinematic trailer for exclusive concert film with Lady Gaga
In a dramatic post shared to its Instagram account, Apple Music has announced the premiere of "MAYHEM Requiem," a new concert film from Lady Gaga. The fast-paced trailer gives fans a glimpse into what is described as a dark and intense reimagining of her recent work, set to stream exclusively on the platform on May 14th at 8pm PT.
The trailer features the pop icon in a series of elaborate, dark costumes, including a striking horned and veiled headpiece. Set on a cavernous stage resembling brutalist stone ruins, Gaga is seen performing with raw passion at a piano and on the guitar, all under highly stylised and moody lighting.
The cinematic teaser promises "MAYHEM like you’ve never seen before," positioning the event as a major release for the Apple Music Live series.
The final chapter
"MAYHEM Requiem" is being presented as the final act of Lady Gaga’s "MAYHEM" era, which began with the release of her sixth solo studio album in March 2025. The album was supported by a globetrotting tour, "The MAYHEM Ball," which concluded in April 2026.
This new film, captured in an intimate performance at the Wiltern Theatre in Los Angeles, is described as a complete reimagining of the album’s songs, set in a world where the tour's grand "opera house has been reduced to rubble."
The announcement comes as part of a growing trend of major artists releasing concert films on streaming services, offering a front-row experience to fans worldwide. In a special treat for her followers, the film will also have a one-night-only screening in fifteen select AMC theatres across the United States, coinciding with the Apple Music premiere.
"Monsters Never Die"
The reaction from Gaga's devoted fanbase, known as 'Little Monsters', was immediate and emotional. The comments section of the post was flooded with messages of excitement and nostalgia. "This era was everything," wrote one user, while another added, "not ready to say goodbye to this era."
Other fans echoed the sentiment, with one declaring, "HISTORY IS HAPPENING," and another proclaiming, "MONSTERS NEVER DIE." The powerful response underscores the anticipation for what promises to be a dramatic and fitting send-off to a beloved musical period for the artist.
The film will be accompanied by a live album, ensuring fans can relive the experience long after the credits roll.
