Eiza González praises ‘fearless’ role in Guy Ritchie’s In the Grey

Eiza González has opened up about her experience filming the upcoming Guy Ritchie action thriller In the Grey, saying she especially enjoyed portraying a “fearless” and commanding female character on screen.

The 36-year-old actress stars alongside Henry Cavill, Jake Gyllenhaal, Rosamund Pike, Kristofer Hivju, and Fisher Stevens in the high-octane film, which is written, produced, and directed by Guy Ritchie.

Speaking about her role, González said she appreciated the opportunity to step into characters that carry strength and presence without relying on aggression or volume.

“It’s nice when you get roles where you really get to develop a strength as a character itself,” she told Extra.

“When I watched Guy Ritchie movies, I always felt that the female characters were quite strong and bold and kind of fearless.”

Having worked with Ritchie on multiple projects, González said her latest character continues that tradition of powerful female roles in his films, noting that her presence on screen is defined by confidence and control rather than force.

“She takes the room, she takes the attention in the room without imposing or trying really hard,” she added.

Beyond In the Grey, González is also preparing for a physically demanding transformation for her next project, Iron Jane, an upcoming bodybuilding drama written and directed by Lissette Feliciano.

The actress admitted that the intense training required for the role has given her a new respect for bodybuilding, describing it as both a physical and mental challenge.

“The more I train, the more I have to kind of go through this transformation,” she said.

“It is a challenging mental thing where you have to sort of commit no matter what… there’s no hiding in bodybuilding.”

González has previously spoken about the challenges she faced early in her Hollywood career, including feeling insecure about her English after breaking into the industry with Baby Driver in 2017.

She revealed that she was initially “terrified” and self-conscious about performing in a non-native language, explaining that acting in English required additional preparation and discipline to overcome language barriers.

Despite those early challenges, González has since established herself as a prominent figure in Hollywood, with a growing portfolio of international roles and collaborations with major directors.
