Reese Witherspoon shares emotional moment with Ryan Phillippe at son’s graduation

Reese Witherspoon reunited with her ex-husband Ryan Phillippe in a heartwarming moment as they came together to celebrate a major milestone in their son’s life.
The former couple, who were married from 1999 to 2008 and share two children, were seen supporting their 22-year-old son, Deacon Phillippe, at his graduation from New York University on May 15.
Photos from the ceremony showed Witherspoon and Phillippe smiling together as they posed with Deacon on his special day, putting family unity front and centre despite their past separation.
Witherspoon also gave fans a glimpse into the celebration on Instagram, sharing a series of images from the graduation and expressing pride in her son’s achievement.
“After 4 years of hard work, long days, endless papers & classes, working with the greatest teachers and making new friends... my wonderful son graduated from nyutisch!” she wrote. “I'm so proud of you deaconphillippe.”
Deacon, who has increasingly shown interest in music, previously spoke about his creative inspirations and growing passion for production in an interview with Interview magazine in 2020.
He revealed that his interest in music deepened while listening to tracks with his father and learning about the production side of the industry.
“When I was listening to the radio in the car with my dad, something just clicked,” he said. “I realised there’s more to making music than just being a vocalist.”
He added that his father played a key role in helping him understand the basics of music production before he continued learning independently through online resources.
The graduation marks a proud family moment for both parents, who continue to co-parent while supporting their children’s personal and professional growth.
