Mindy Kaling opens up about why marriage no longer feels necessary in her life

Mindy Kaling has surprised fans after revealing she no longer feels the need to get married, offering a candid reflection on how her personal goals have shifted over time.

The actress and writer, known for creating The Mindy Project and co-creating Running Point, opened up about her evolving outlook during a recent interview.

Speaking to Bustle, Kaling reflected on the ambitions she once held for her life and career.

“Professionally, I always wanted to write on Saturday Night Live and be a cast member on Saturday Night Live. Personally, I wanted to be married. Neither of those things happened,” she said.

When asked whether those goals could still come true, the 45-year-old responded with a noticeably more relaxed perspective.

“Those things could happen, but I think I don’t necessarily need them anymore, maybe, which is a nice feeling,” Kaling explained.

Her comments suggest a shift toward contentment outside traditional milestones, as she embraces a different definition of fulfillment in both her personal and professional life.

Kaling shares a close friendship with actor B.J. Novak, who is also the godfather to her three children, and the pair have remained publicly supportive of one another over the years.
