Miley Cyrus' mother, Tish Cyrus, has set tongues wagging over a possible secret marriage after referring to the singer's fiancé, Maxx Morando, as her "husband" during Miley's Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony.
The comment that started it all
According to the Daily Mail, the "Flowers" hitmaker — who became engaged to Liily rock band drummer Morando in late 2025 — was posing for photographs at the event alongside her mother and sister Brandi Cyrus when Tish declared, "We're gonna bring the husband."
Morando, 27, then joined the 33-year-old "Hannah Montana" alumna for the photos, at which point he leant in to kiss Miley on the cheek.
A representative for the Grammy-winning singer did not respond to Page Six's request for comment by Friday evening.
How Miley and Maxx's relationship began
The couple's romance has been several years in the making. Miley revealed during a May 2023 interview with Vogue that their first meeting was, in effect, a blind date — though only for her.
"Well, it was blind for me and not really for him," she said.
They first appeared together publicly in November 2021, when Miley posed with Morando at a Gucci event in an Instagram carousel.
The following month, the pair were spotted getting close at "Miley's New Year's Eve Party" in Miami, where the former Disney Channel star was seen with Morando backstage during commercial breaks.
An insider told Us Weekly in March 2022 that the pair were in a "new" relationship and had "been spending a lot of time together."
Their romance was officially confirmed when they were seen kissing in April 2022 in West Hollywood, Los Angeles. A source later told E! News that the relationship was becoming "very serious."
From "love" to living together to engaged
After Miley name-checked Morando at the 2024 Grammy Awards, describing him as her "love," a source told People that the couple had moved in together. Page Six subsequently confirmed the couple's engagement in December 2025, after the "Wrecking Ball" singer sparked speculation by wearing a diamond ring at the premiere of Avatar: Fire and Ash in Los Angeles on 1 December.
Just days later, Miley spoke glowingly about the relationship on Good Morning America:
"Me and Maxx have been together for four years and it's very obvious the drastic amount of growth I've had in those four years."
"You just want to dream the biggest you can and you want to have someone by your side that always tells you you can do it."
Miley's previous marriage
Miley was previously married to The Hunger Games actor Liam Hemsworth. The pair separated in 2019, just months after their December 2018 wedding.
