Former Michigan doctor pleads guilty in child pornography case

Lincoln Erickson, a former medical resident in Michigan, has pleaded guilty to receiving child sexual abuse material, according to the United States Attorney’s Office.

The 32-year-old from Farmington Hills entered his plea on May 20 and is now awaiting sentencing, scheduled for September 15, 2026. He will also be required to register as a sex offender following the conviction.

Federal authorities said Erickson had been in custody since his arrest in December 2025, when FBI agents detained him at a Detroit-area hospital where he was working as a resident.

Prosecutors allege that investigators discovered videos of minors engaged in sexual acts on his device, along with AI-generated explicit content involving children.

Officials further claim Erickson engaged in disturbing online conversations and attempted to persuade a father to allow him access to bathe the man’s children.

He is also accused of discussing plans with another individual to travel abroad to commit sexual abuse, according to court filings referenced by prosecutors.

“This pervert was lurking among our trusted medical professionals,” said U.S. Attorney Gorgon in a statement, adding that authorities acted swiftly to prevent further harm.

Federal officials emphasized the seriousness of crimes involving child exploitation material, noting that such offenses carry severe consequences under U.S. law.

“This defendant, a former doctor, possessed videos of children engaged in sexual activity,” said Jennifer Runyan of the FBI Detroit Field Office. She added that law enforcement continues efforts to protect vulnerable children and hold offenders accountable.

Erickson remains in federal custody pending sentencing as the case proceeds.
