Carmen Electra reprises franchise role in sixth 'Scary Movie' film with surprise cameo
The actress makes a cameo appearance in the opening scene of the sixth installment
Carmen Electra has expressed excitement about returning to the Scary Movie franchise, saying she was “over the moon” to be invited back for the latest installment and remains eager to “make fun” of herself on screen.
Electra makes a cameo appearance in the sixth film in the horror-comedy series, appearing as a bartender in the opening scene, mirroring her brief role in the 2000 original Scary Movie, where she appeared in the film’s iconic parody sequence.
Speaking in an exclusive interview to People, Electra said she was thrilled to be contacted for the new project.
“I was just over the moon to get that call to be in this one again,” she said, adding that reuniting with the filmmakers made the experience especially meaningful.
“I love working with the Wayans, and to get the chance to work with them again has been such an honor and so much fun,” she said, referring to the return of the original creative team, including Marlon Wayans and Shawn Wayans, who co-wrote and starred in the early films that defined the franchise.
Electra, 54, said her brief appearance in the new sequel-reboot came together quickly after a wave of renewed attention earlier this year, including a TMZ interview that she believes may have contributed to the invitation. She later traveled to Atlanta to film her scene at Tyler Perry Studios.
The opening sequence also features musician and actress Teyana Taylor, who appears in a parody setup inspired by recent horror films.
Electra praised her co-star’s performance, joking about her striking screen presence.
“She has a lot to do in the scene,” Electra said, adding with a laugh that Taylor’s look left an impression on her.
Reflecting on her long association with the franchise, Electra noted that more than two decades have passed since her first appearance.
She also highlighted the return of several original cast members, including Anna Faris and Regina Hall, calling the reunion a rare and meaningful experience.
“It gets no better than that,” she said, praising the return of the Wayans brothers and the original creative team, who helped launch the franchise in the early 2000s.
Electra also emphasized that her willingness to embrace self-parody is part of what makes the role enjoyable, saying she is “so down to make fun” of herself.
The new Scary Movie installment is now in theaters.
