British actor Joe Alwyn, 35, was spotted alongside American actress Sarah Pidgeon, 29, in the Fort Greene neighbourhood of Brooklyn, New York, on Wednesday evening, sparking fresh romance speculation online.

Deuxmoi first reported the sighting, though the gossip platform noted a significant caveat: "When Sarah was spotted with Jake Gyllenhaal, it was later learned they were about to film a project together."

Who is Sarah Pidgeon?

Pidgeon is best known for portraying style icon Carolyn Bessette Kennedy in the acclaimed FX series American Love Story, a role that earned her widespread recognition. The actress fiercely guards her private life and has never publicly confirmed a romantic relationship.

She was previously linked to Spacey Jane frontman Caleb Harper following her appearance in the band's "It's Been a Long Day" music video in 2022, while on-screen chemistry with Love Story co-star Paul Anthony Kelly also fuelled fan speculation — though Kelly has been married to wife Syd Widziszewski since 2023.

Earlier this year, Pidgeon was spotted grabbing coffee with actor Jake Gyllenhaal, 45, in New York, prompting similar rumours before it emerged the pair are set to co-star in the upcoming dramedy film Honeymoon with Harry.

Fan reaction

Social media users were quick to respond to news of the sighting. One commenter quipped, "We about to get an album from Taylor," while another wrote that Alwyn and Pidgeon would "be gorgeous together." A third added: "Obsessed with Taylor. But this works. Good for them."

The Taylor Swift connection

Alwyn dated global pop star Taylor Swift, 36, for six and a half years, from the autumn of 2016 until their split in the spring of 2023, which coincided with the launch of Swift's record-breaking Eras Tour. An insider told Page Six at the time that the breakup "wasn't dramatic," adding that the romance "just ran its course." Fans subsequently speculated that several tracks on Swift's The Tortured Poets Department — including "Loml," "So Long, London," and "I Can Do It With a Broken Heart" — were inspired by the relationship.

In a June 2024 interview with The London Times, Alwyn broke his silence on the split. "I would hope that anyone and everyone can empathise and understand the difficulties that come with the end of a long, loving, fully committed relationship of over six and a half years. That is a hard thing to navigate," he told the publication. He described the experience as "unusual and abnormal" because the breakup was thrust into public view.

"So you have something very real suddenly thrown into a very unreal space: tabloids, social media, press, where it is then dissected, speculated on, pulled out of shape beyond recognition," he said, adding: "And the truth is, to that last point, there is always going to be a gap between what is known and what is said. I have made my peace with that."

Swift's upcoming wedding

News of Alwyn's sighting comes as anticipation mounts over Swift's forthcoming wedding to Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Sources recently told Page Six that the ceremony is expected to take place at Madison Square Garden over the 3 July weekend.
