Blake Lively moves to extend legal dispute with Justin Baldoni

Blake Lively asked a federal court for additional time to file paperwork in her ongoing legal fees dispute with Justin Baldoni, citing scheduling conflicts and international travel commitments.

Page Six reported that the actress submitted a letter to the court on June 16 requesting a seven-day extension to a June 22 deadline tied to determining how much Baldoni must pay in legal fees following the dismissal of his defamation lawsuit against her.

Lively cites travel and scheduling conflicts

According to the filing, Lively and her legal team face several professional and personal commitments that could affect their ability to meet the court's deadline.

The letter stated that the actress and her attorneys have "a number of conflicting personal and professional obligations, including international travel."

It also noted that one of Lively's lead attorneys, Michael Gottlieb, is currently out of the country and would need time to review billing submissions and approve related court documents.

As a result, Lively requested an additional week to submit her initial brief regarding the appropriate amount of legal fees and costs.

Dispute continues after settlement

The latest filing came just weeks after Lively and Baldoni reached a settlement in their long-running legal battle.

Earlier this month, the actress returned to court seeking reimbursement for legal expenses connected to Baldoni's dismissed $400 million defamation lawsuit.

Judge Lewis Liman subsequently ruled that Baldoni is responsible for covering Lively's legal fees related to that case. The court is now tasked with determining the exact amount he must pay.

Legal battle stemmed from 'It Ends With Us'

The dispute originated from Lively's 2024 lawsuit against her It Ends With Us co-star and director.

Lively alleged that Baldoni sexually harassed her during production of the film. Baldoni denied the allegations and later filed a defamation lawsuit against the actress.

In May 2026, both sides agreed to settle their claims, bringing the primary legal fight to a close.

Focus shifts to legal costs

While neither party received financial damages as part of the settlement, the issue of attorney fees remains unresolved.

The current proceedings focus solely on determining the legal costs Baldoni must reimburse following the dismissal of his defamation claims.

As the court reviews the matter, Lively is also reportedly preparing for her return to Hollywood projects following the conclusion of the high-profile lawsuit.
