Davis's publicist confirmed his passing in a statement, saying he "passed away peacefully from age-related illness at the age of 94 at his home in Manhattan on Monday surrounded by his family and loved ones," adding that he had been "in good spirits and happy to be recuperating at home."

'I will miss him so very, very much'

Stewart turned to Instagram to share a personal tribute to Davis, whom she described as a cherished friend, mentor, and neighbour across several decades of friendship. "My lovely friend, mentor and neighbor, the indomitable, indefatigable, amazing, talented, intuitive, Mister Clive Davis passed away today," she wrote. "I will miss him so very, very much. Not only did he provide us with some of the best performers and their music for more than half a century, he was the kindest, most thoughtful and caring human being."

Decades of shared celebrations

Stewart also recalled the many occasions she had shared with Davis over the years, spanning his legendary Grammy gatherings to more personal moments of recognition. "Over the years I attended many of his super duper Grammy parties, his birthday celebrations, his dinners honoring his artists and friends but I also got to honor him for the Martha Stewart Center for Living at Mount Sinai. We will miss you Clive!!!!!" she added.

The two had maintained a close friendship for decades and were last seen together publicly in January 2026 at Davis's annual pre-Grammy party.
