Prince Harry to travel to London alone as Meghan Markle, children skip U.K. visit
The Duke of Sussex will travel to London without Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet next week
Prince Harry will travel to London on his own next week after Meghan Markle, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet decided not to join him for the first leg of his U.K. visit.
According to People, the Duke of Sussex will proceed with his scheduled trip to Britain, while no final decision has been made on whether Meghan and the children will join him later for engagements outside the capital.
The update comes after reports that Harry hoped to bring Archie and Lilibet back to the United Kingdom for the first time since 2022, giving them an opportunity to spend time in the country where he grew up and potentially reunite with King Charles.
However, the family's travel plans continue to be affected by ongoing concerns over security arrangements.
In a statement released last month, a spokesperson for the Duke of Sussex said the key issue remained whether "appropriate and proportionate protective security" would be provided throughout the family's visit.
Although King Charles reportedly offered accommodation on a royal estate, the proposed security measures would not extend beyond the property, leaving unresolved concerns about travel outside the estate.
Harry is expected to travel to Britain for a series of charity engagements, including events marking the one-year countdown to the 2027 Invictus Games in Birmingham, as well as appearances supporting WellChild and Scotty's Little Soldiers.
The Duke has repeatedly expressed concern about bringing his wife and children to the U.K. after losing taxpayer-funded police protection in 2020, when he and Meghan stepped back as senior working royals and relocated to California.
Following the dismissal of his legal appeal over security arrangements in 2025, Harry told the BBC that he could not "see a world" in which he would feel comfortable bringing his family back to Britain under the current circumstances.
"I miss the U.K., I miss parts of the U.K., of course I do," he said at the time. "I think that it's really quite sad that I won't be able to show my children my homeland."
Representatives for Harry have also maintained that a review of his security arrangements remains under consideration and argue that the assessment has not been updated in several years.
Prince Archie was born in the United Kingdom in 2019, while Princess Lilibet, who was born after the family moved to the United States, has visited Britain only once during Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations in 2022.
Harry and Meghan have continued to keep their children largely out of the public eye, saying their privacy and safety remain a top priority.
