King Charles shares private reunion with Prince Harry’s family after years apart
After four years apart, King Charles has reunited with his youngest son's children, Archie and Lilibet, during a private meetup
King Charles has reunited with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, for the first time in four years during a private family gathering at Highgrove House.
Buckingham Palace confirmed on Friday that the King and Queen Camilla hosted the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and their two children at the monarch's country residence in Gloucestershire.
The palace described the gathering as a "private family occasion" and said no photographs or additional details from the reunion would be released.
The meeting marks King Charles' first reported reunion with seven-year-old Archie and five-year-old Lilibet since 2022, when the children travelled to the United Kingdom for Queen Elizabeth II's Platinum Jubilee celebrations. During that visit, they did not appear at any public events.
Prince Harry, Meghan and their children have been based in California since stepping back from royal duties and relocating to the United States in 2020.
Reports earlier this week suggested Harry had initially travelled to the UK alone after disagreements over arrangements for the family's visit, including accommodation and security.
However, Buckingham Palace later confirmed that Meghan and the children joined him for the family gathering at Highgrove.
It remains unclear where the Sussex family are staying during their time in Britain, though reports indicate they had been vacationing in Europe before travelling to the UK.
The reunion also marks the first reported meeting between Harry and King Charles since September 2025, when the Duke of Sussex visited his father at Clarence House in London for a brief meeting lasting less than an hour.
While Harry reunited with his father, reports suggest he has no plans to meet with his older brother, Prince William, during the visit.
On Friday, the royal family members carried out separate engagements. King Charles visited Oxfordshire, Prince Harry took part in activities highlighting sports featured in the 2027 Invictus Games, while Prince William was joined by Catherine, Princess of Wales, at a charity polo match in Windsor.
Although details of the Highgrove gathering remain private, the reunion marks a rare family milestone, bringing King Charles together once again with his youngest son's children after several years apart.
