Princess of Wales suffers injury at children's hospital
A public appearance by the Princess of Wales revealed a mystery injury beneath her designer dress
The Princess of Wales displayed a mystery injury on her leg during an official royal visit to a children's hospital in London on Monday. The 44-year-old royal was photographed with a visible light graze just below her knee as she departed the medical facility. The superficial wound became apparent when the fabric of her white buttoned shirt dress shifted in the wind as she walked.
The exact cause of the mystery injury remains unconfirmed, though the royal participated in strenuous outdoor activities during her recent Three Peaks mountain-climbing challenge. Her family also maintains an active lifestyle and owns a one-year-old cocker spaniel named Otto. The royal household has a well-documented history of minor mishaps, with the princess previously wearing bandages during public receptions following injuries sustained on a family trampoline and while playing with her three children.
The physical mark was spotted as the future Queen toured the Evelina London Children’s Hospital to review its long-term expansion plans. Evelina London Chief Executive Gubby Ayida formally welcomed the royal patron, who wore a string bracelet crafted by her daughter, Princess Charlotte. The specialist facility is expanding its infrastructure to meet rising demand, with construction underway for a new hospital building scheduled to open next to the existing site in the early 2030s.
During the daytime tour, the royal spent time meeting with vulnerable patients and families who have benefited from the ongoing clinical changes. The princess previously visited the site in 2023 to officially open a children's day surgery centre. Ayida praised the royal visitor following the conclusion of the tour, noting that the patron interacts brilliantly with the young patients and successfully brightens the environment for children facing severe illnesses.
