Blue Ivy earns roaring ovation after surprise performance at Jay-Z’s anniversary concert
Jay-Z celebrated three decades in music by sharing the stage with his wife, Beyoncé and daughter Blue Ivy
Jay-Z turned the opening night of his 30th anniversary concert series into a memorable family celebration by welcoming surprise guests Beyoncé and their daughter, Blue Ivy Carter, to the stage at New York’s Yankee Stadium.
The milestone concert, held on Friday night, celebrated three decades of the rap icon’s career and featured special appearances that thrilled the packed crowd.
One of the evening’s biggest surprises came when Beyoncé joined her husband for a performance of "Can't Knock the Hustle," taking over the vocals originally performed by Mary J. Blige on the 1996 track.
As the Grammy-winning singer delivered her verse while confidently making her way across the stage, Jay-Z praised her performance once the song ended.
“Oh, she can sing,” he joked, prompting Beyoncé to smile before telling the audience, “Give it up for my baby.”
Later in the concert, the couple’s 14-year-old daughter Blue Ivy Carter received one of the loudest reactions of the night after joining her father for "Feelin' It."
Blue Ivy capped off the performance with a piano solo that earned thunderous applause from fans. A visibly proud Jay-Z introduced her as “the legendary Blue Ivy Carter” before the father and daughter shared a heartfelt embrace on stage.
Blue Ivy’s latest appearance comes just months after Jay-Z praised her musical abilities during an interview with GQ, revealing that she has an exceptional natural talent for playing the piano.
“She won’t let us get her a teacher. She doesn’t want it to be a job,” he said. “But she has perfect pitch. If she hears a song, she’ll be like, ‘Play it again,’ and then she’ll teach herself.”
The rapper also expressed pride in his daughter’s determination to develop her own talents.
“That’s just talent. She doesn’t work at that. She worked at this, and it makes me proud that she fought for something that she really wanted to do,” he said. “I don’t think we’re going to be able to get her off that stage now.”
Blue Ivy has become an increasingly familiar face onstage alongside her famous parents. She first joined Beyoncé during the Renaissance World Tour in 2023 before returning for the Cowboy Carter World Tour in 2025, where she performed throughout the tour and even delivered solo dance routines that quickly went viral among fans.
Jay-Z and Beyoncé are also parents to 9-year-old twins, Rumi and Sir.
The opening night at Yankee Stadium marked the beginning of Jay-Z’s 30th anniversary concert series, with the surprise family performances giving fans an unforgettable start to the celebration of his legendary career.
