KJ Apa shares heartwarming summer plans with 4-year-old son Sasha
The actor is planning a family-focused summer, saying he's excited to introduce more memories with son Sasha
KJ Apa is looking forward to a quiet summer centered around family.
The Riverdale alum revealed that his summer 2026 plans are refreshingly simple, with a trip home to New Zealand alongside his 4-year-old son, Sasha.
Speaking to People, the 29-year-old actor said reconnecting with loved ones is at the top of his list.
"I'm excited about going back to New Zealand to see my family, and I'm going to take my son with me," Apa shared.
Calling his plans "pretty simple," the actor added, "That's what I'm looking forward to."
Apa shares Sasha Vai Keneti, born in September 2021, with his former partner, model Clara Berry.
The actor has spoken candidly in recent years about how becoming a father transformed his life.
During an appearance on Andy Cohen's SiriusXM radio show last year, Apa revealed that parenthood played a major role in helping him get sober.
"A lot of things that I realized I had to button up, I buttoned up, and I realized that there's no other way for me to do it," he said at the time.
Describing Sasha as "a gift that saved my life," Apa explained that fatherhood changed his priorities.
"I go, 'I love you so much more than me.' I have to sacrifice all these things for you. And that's what a good parent does," he said.
The actor has also reflected on the personal challenges he faced after Riverdale concluded its seven-season run in 2023.
While promoting the Audible Original The Summer Oath, Apa previously revealed he experienced an identity crisis after the long-running CW series came to an end.
"When I finished that show, [I] went through a year of really having to re-gather who I was, like, re-remember who I was," he recalled.
At the time, he was also adjusting to life as a new father while navigating his breakup with Berry.
"[I was] being a dad, my son being one year old at the time, going through a breakup with his mom and navigating all of that while trying to pick up the pieces of who I was," Apa said.
Looking back, however, the actor said he has no regrets.
"I look back, and I'm so grateful for it because I asked for this life. I asked to be here, and this is what it all comes with. And I'm grateful for it. I'm glad I went through it."
