Jana Kramer praises Adam Sandler after his role in Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding
The actress defended her former co-star Adam Sandler, describing him as a kind, sentimental speaker
Jana Kramer is weighing in on the surprising choice of Adam Sandler as the officiant for Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce's wedding, saying the actor was a natural fit for the role.
The actress and singer, who starred alongside Sandler in Click, defended the comedian's involvement after some fans questioned why he was chosen to officiate the high-profile ceremony.
Speaking on her Whine Down podcast, Kramer said Sandler's warm personality made perfect sense for such an important occasion.
"Everyone was like, 'Oh, that's an interesting choice,'" Kramer said.
"I will say, on the Adam Sandler piece of things, I met him a million years ago. I did that movie Click with him."
Reflecting on her experience working with the actor, she described Sandler as someone who balances humour with genuine sincerity.
"It almost does make sense to me now because he does have that sentimental [personality], like, he's just such a sweet man," Kramer said.
"He really is, and he's a good man. So I could see him being really funny, but then also really grounded and sentimental. He is very intentional when he speaks [and is] soft-spoken."
Sandler, 59, and his wife Jackie recently celebrated their 23rd wedding anniversary, giving the actor years of marriage experience to draw from during the ceremony.
According to PEOPLE, Sandler immediately accepted when Swift and Kelce asked him to officiate their wedding.
"He wasn't trying to find the perfect words or make it this big production," a source told the outlet.
"He just wanted to speak from the heart and pass along a little wisdom that he's gained from his own happy marriage."
Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid also praised Sandler's performance, describing the ceremony as heartfelt and memorable.
Speaking to The Deseret News, Reid recalled one piece of advice Sandler shared with the newlyweds.
"Adam Sandler did the ceremony there, so he mentioned, 'Kiss her every chance you have.'"
Reid said Sandler encouraged the couple to kiss before leaving for work, before going to bed and even after disagreements.
"He even mentioned that if maybe you did have a small argument, to finish it with a kiss and make sure that you work it out. And as simple as that is, I thought it was wise words," Reid said.
Sandler has previously spoken warmly about both Swift and Kelce, describing the NFL star as "such a gentle, nice guy, and funny as hell."
He also praised the Grammy-winning singer for her kindness toward his family.
"Taylor is incredible. Taylor is so damn nice to my family and has always been. My kids have met Taylor a bunch of times over the years, and she's ridiculously nice to them and warm," Sandler previously said.
