Princess Kate earns standing ovation as she returns to Wimbledon Men's final
The royal family was met with a standing ovation as Kate Middleton resumed her traditional Wimbledon duties
Kate Middleton received a warm standing ovation as she arrived at the Wimbledon men's singles final alongside Prince William and their two eldest children.
The Princess of Wales attended the final day of the Wimbledon Championships on Sunday, July 12, taking her place in the Royal Box at Centre Court with Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
As the royal family entered the stadium, spectators rose to their feet and applauded before the family settled into the front row to watch the championship match between Italy's Jannik Sinner and Germany's Alexander Zverev.
The Royal Box was filled with high-profile guests, including Anna Wintour, Nicole Kidman, Jennifer Lopez, Andrew Garfield, Tom Hiddleston, Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Rami Malek and Ben Stiller.
Kate attended the tournament not only as a tennis enthusiast but also in her official role as patron of the All England Lawn Tennis and Croquet Club, a position bestowed upon her by the late Queen Elizabeth II in 2016.
As patron, the Princess traditionally presents the championship trophies following the singles finals.
On Saturday, she presented the women's singles trophy, the Venus Rosewater Dish, to Czech champion Linda Noskova.
Following Sunday's final, she is set to award the men's championship trophy to either Jannik Sinner or Alexander Zverev.
The Princess also wore the club's signature purple-and-green ribbon pin, a symbol of her patronage.
Wimbledon has become one of the royal family's most cherished annual traditions, with Kate frequently attending the men's final alongside Prince William, Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
Her appearance carries added significance following her recovery from cancer.
After announcing her cancer diagnosis in March 2024, Kate stepped back from public duties while undergoing treatment.
She revealed in January 2025 that she was in remission and has gradually returned to a fuller schedule of royal engagements.
This year's tournament also marked her return to watching early-round Wimbledon matches for the first time since 2023, having previously limited her appearances to finals weekend during her treatment and recovery.
