Hollywood actor Tom Holland revealed he had a highly humbling experience when professional football player Erling Haaland completely ignored his text invitation to dinner. The British star shared the embarrassing incident during a recent television appearance while promoting his upcoming project.
The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon featured the actor discussing a viral social media post that detailed the awkward interaction. Host Jimmy Fallon asked if the rumours were true, quoting an online post claiming the footballer had no idea who the actor was and assumed he was a random person because he does not watch films. Holland sheepishly confirmed the story, admitting he received absolutely no response from the Manchester City striker.
"I tell you what, that is exactly the type of humbling experience that is important for actors," Holland said during the interview. He added that he expected at least an excuse or a busy message, but received nothing at all. The actor explained that he decided to shoot his shot and send the direct message after spotting Haaland in a hospitality suite across the paddock during the Formula 1 Monaco Grand Prix last June.
While Holland joked that he never imagined discussing the snub on live television, he expressed doubt that the dinner would ever happen now. He pointed to England's recent 2-1 victory over Norway as a reason the Norwegian striker might still be avoiding him.
