Alix Earle reveals panic attack after online criticism
Alix Earle shares reason behind recent social media hiatus
Alix Earle revealed she recently experienced a panic attack and stepped away from social media after struggling with increasing online criticism.
The influencer shared the update in a TikTok video on Sunday, explaining why she had not posted for several days.
“I know I haven’t posted anything on here in the past few days,” Earle said. “Honestly, I just sort of took some time for myself and tried to not be online as much because I was getting into not the best place.”
How online criticism affected Alix Earle
Earle, 25, said she has always understood that posting online invites public commentary, but admitted recent criticism has been more difficult to handle.
“I’ve always been fine with reading” comments about herself, she said, adding, “That’s what you subject yourself to when you post yourself online.”
“But recently, I don’t know. It’s felt more negative.”
She explained that constantly reading comments about her appearance, friendships and what she says caused her to overthink.
“Obviously it’s gonna get to you or make you overthink when you’re constantly reading about what you’re doing, the way you look, who you’re hanging out with, what you’re saying.”
Why Alix Earle took a social media break
The content creator said she reached a breaking point while getting ready one day last week.
“I just broke down in tears,” she recalled.
Earle also revealed she suffered a panic attack while travelling.
“I was on the plane and I had a panic attack,” she said. “I’ve just been struggling a bit. It’s my happy place to come on here and talk and share things.”
She added that she feels many of her posts are now overanalysed, with critics trying to find hidden meanings behind everything she shares.
“It just turns into something bigger,” Earle said. “I’m just trying to share my human experiences.”
Friends helped her recharge
To help herself recover, Earle spent time with friends in Miami and decided against posting content because she found herself “overthinking everything” about herself.
She said she enjoys being a content creator but believes the job “shouldn’t result in hating” herself.
Earle also revealed she had recorded similar videos before but deleted them because she became emotional while filming.
“I’ve actually recorded a video like this a few times, but the other times I was recording it I was crying and I was like, let me just collect myself a little more,” she said, adding that she is starting to feel better.
Fans responded with messages of support, encouraging the influencer to prioritise her wellbeing as she continues navigating life in the public eye.
