Queen Camilla shares her least favourite reading genre

Queen Camilla revealed her strong dislike for the science fiction book genre during a promotional visit to a historic London bookstore. The avid reader made the literary confession whilst attending a celebratory event at the legendary Heywood Hill bookshop in Mayfair to mark the retail business's 90th anniversary.

The Daily Mail reported on the royal engagement, where Her Majesty explicitly stated that she hates sci-fi. While acknowledging that many people enjoy the genre, she explained that she simply cannot read it. The Queen, who has long championed literacy and established various digital book clubs, noted that readers must have some things they love and others they truly do not, categorising science fiction as her ultimate literary dislike.

The literary bookstore visit preceded another significant engagement on Tuesday, when the Queen opened the private gardens of Clarence House to host a special charity reception. Acting in her official role as president of the Royal Osteoporosis Society, she hosted the gathering to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the medical organisation. During the reception, she shared details of the deep personal losses that continue to inspire her long-term advocacy for the charity.

Her Majesty has actively supported the work of the health organisation since 1994, which was the same year her mother, Rosalind Shand, passed away from the debilitating bone disease. The chronic condition also claimed the life of her grandmother, Sonia, making the medical cause an intensely personal mission for the royal family member. Through her presidential role, she continues to raise public awareness and drive support for bone health research to help other families affected by the illness.
