Two men were shot inside a Kroger grocery store in the Houston area on Wednesday afternoon in what authorities believe was the result of an apparent domestic dispute.

Deputies with Harris County Constable Precinct 4 responded to reports of an active shooter at the Kroger store on Cypresswood Drive at approximately 2:50 p.m. local time on July 15.

According to Constable Mark Herman, deputies arrived at the scene in less than two minutes and quickly took the suspected shooter into custody.

A preliminary investigation indicates the incident stemmed from a domestic altercation involving the two men.

The victim was airlifted to a hospital in serious condition after suffering a gunshot wound, while the suspected shooter was transported by ambulance after sustaining a gunshot wound to the neck.

Authorities said there is no ongoing threat to the public as investigators continue working to determine exactly what led to the shooting.

Herman said Family Violence investigators are handling the case, adding that appropriate criminal charges will be filed once the investigation is complete.

Earlier reports from the scene indicated that witnesses saw a man wearing a yellow shirt and black pants firing a weapon inside the grocery store, prompting multiple emergency calls.

Captain Juan Flores of the Harris County Precinct 4 Constable's Office later confirmed that responding officers found two men suffering from gunshot wounds.

According to officials, one of the injured men managed to walk out of the store before being taken to a hospital, while the second was found inside the building with multiple gunshot wounds and was also transported for medical treatment.

Both men were reported to be in critical condition on Wednesday evening.

Authorities confirmed that no customers or bystanders were injured during the incident.

Kroger declined to comment on the case while the investigation remains active, saying it could not release information out of respect for the ongoing police investigation.

Officials continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
