Rory Feek shares positive update after daughter Indiana's health scare

Rory Feek has shared a positive update on his daughter Indiana after the 12-year-old returned home following an eight-day hospital stay caused by a serious complication after open-heart surgery.

The country singer revealed that Indiana, who has Down syndrome, is recovering well after doctors drained fluid that had built up around her heart, a condition that developed weeks after surgery to correct a congenital heart defect.

According to Feek, Indiana was rushed to a hospital in Waco, Texas, before being airlifted to a children's hospital in Austin after she developed a headache and cough, then vomited and lost consciousness.

Doctors later discovered that fluid had accumulated around her heart, restricting its ability to beat properly.

During emergency surgery, medical staff removed 610 ccs of fluid, allowing her heart rate to return to normal.

Sharing an update on Substack, Feek said Indiana was discharged after eight days in the hospital and is now safely back home with the family.

"Yesterday afternoon, eight days after going back to the children's hospital in Austin, we finally got word that Indy was free and clear to come home. Hallelujah!" he wrote.

Feek added that doctors kept Indiana hospitalized slightly longer than expected to ensure she was fully stable before returning home.

The singer said Indiana has been enjoying reading the cards and letters she received during her recovery and that the family's overwhelming support has been "absolutely humbling."

While settling back into their home in Waco, the family reflected on the difficult weeks behind them and looked ahead to their planned move to Tennessee later this year.

Feek concluded by reassuring fans that Indiana is "doing amazing" and feeling like her old self again, though her stepmother Rebecca, is keeping her close by for a few more nights as she continues to recover.
