TV Insider reported that the 53-year-old Star Trek: Strange New Worlds star addressed the viral incident in an interview, explaining that he jokingly begged his wife, photographer and author Darah Trang, not to divorce him following the segment. Mount stated that Trang found the entire situation hilarious instead of problematic.

The live television moment unfolded as Mount walked onto the stage to greet the show hosts. He approached 83-year-old Behar for a hug, and she initially gave him a polite kiss on the cheek.
