Ant Anstead opens up about marriage with Renee Zellweger

Ant Anstead has opened up about his relationship with Renee Zellweger, revealing the couple are happy with where they are and feel no pressure to get married.

The television presenter, who has been dating the Bridget Jones's Diary actress since 2021, said they are content without putting a formal label on their relationship despite ongoing speculation about their future.

Speaking to The Telegraph, Anstead said, "I still believe in marriage, but right now we're really happy. We don't need the pressure of a label."

The 47-year-old also praised Zellweger's down-to-earth personality, describing the Oscar-winning actress as "absolutely brilliant."

"She's a very real person. She's absolutely brilliant, the most grounded, humble person," he said.

The couple first met while filming Celebrity IOU Joyride, where they bonded over their shared passion for classic cars. Although engagement rumours have surfaced in the past, they were later dismissed.

Anstead, who has been married twice before, also revealed he intends to make the United States his permanent home and is currently in the process of obtaining a green card.

"I'd established this really lovely ecosystem," he said, explaining that he regularly travelled between the UK and California to spend time with his children.

"I'm fully American. I'm going through the green card process. I use words like 'sidewalk'. I was staying."

Previously, Anstead credited Zellweger's practical skills with strengthening their relationship, recalling how impressed he was after seeing her weld while filming together.

"One of the many, many things that attracts me to Ren is that she's a hands-on car girl," he told Hello! magazine. "She welded – I mean, how cool is that?"

The couple have also been working together to restore a farmhouse in the UK that Anstead purchased for his parents, with the presenter revealing Zellweger has taken the lead on many of the design decisions.

"She's been a big influence on that; she's very, very good at designing," he said. "I am constantly being advised, because she's the greatest human I've ever met."
