Pakistani women to grace ‘Miss Universe’ pageant for the first time: Deets inside

Pakistani women are all set to create the history as they are contesting for the global beauty pageant Miss Universe.

The top 5 Pakistani finalists for the most-watched beauty contest have been announced, including the names of Erica Rabin, 24 from Karachi, Hira Inam, 24, from Lahore. The 28-year-old Jessica Wilson from Rawalpindi, US-born Malika Alvi, 19, and the 26-year-old Sabrina Wasim from Punjab.

These five contestants were shortlisted from Pakistan among the group of 200candidates from across the world.

As per the organizer, all five of them got selected after a photoshoot in Maldives, dressed by Filipino designer Fern One.

 5 Pakistani woman contesting for 'Miss Universe' Pageant:

Erica Robin:

 She is a 24-year-old model, who wants to see positive change in Pakistan and highlight the country’s diversity.

Robin  wants to work for the education and women empowerment.

 Jessica Wilson:

She is a 28-year-old cyber security engineer,  performing artist, an avid traveler, and a  public speaker as well.

Malika Alvi: 

Alvi is only 19-year-old, a Pakistani-American student, dancer, fashion designer entrepreneur and content writer. She wants to show the world that Pakistani women are capable and leaders.

Sabrina Wasim:

She is a 26-year-old property consultant, event host and a choreographer. She was inspired by India’s Harnaz Sindhu to apply for Miss Universe Pakistan at Miss Universe 2022 meeting,  hosted by Sabrina at that time.

Hira Inam:

Inam is 24-year-old, whose life goal is  success and she desires to raise funds to help  for the education underprivileged people in Pakistan and end poverty.

Voting for Miss Universe  Pakistani contestants:

Miss Universe Bahrain and Yugen Group have given the fans a chance for their favourite candidate using voting app Choisely. 

Whoever will get the most votes at mupakistan.choicely.com will be awarded a perfect 10 score, which will be added to  judges’ final score. 

Crowing ceremony:

The crowning will be shown on Miss Universe's YouTube channel on Thursday at 7pm UAE time.

Miss Universe 2023 will  will culminate in a grand finale on November 18, 2023 with the current title holder, Urbani Nola Gabriel from America, crowning her successor.
