Suzanne Somers, known for playing Chrissy Snow in Three's Company and Carol Foster Lambert in Step by Step, has passed away at 76.

The renowned  star died “peacefully at home”, surrounded by her family members on Sunday morning.

Suzanne’s longtime publicist R. Couri Hay gave a statement on behalf of the star’s family.

The statement read, “Suzanne Somers passed away peacefully at home in the early morning hours of October 15th. She survived an aggressive form of breast cancer for over 23 years. Suzanne was surrounded by her loving husband Alan, her son Bruce, and her immediate family”

“Her family was gathered to celebrate her 77th birthday on October 16th. Instead, they will celebrate her extraordinary life, and want to thank her millions of fans and followers who loved her dearly,” the statement continued.

Couri told PEOPLE that it was one of the I'm Too Young for This! author’s “dream” to spent last moments in her “beautiful house.”

Suzanne had “plans” that she was “always working” on, the veteran actress also “brought her family into the business, and the grandchildren and step-children were all part of the business.”

The Suzanne Show alum was “very engaged right to the end,” adding, “A private family burial will take place this week, with a memorial to follow next month.”

Earlier this year, Suzanne’s husband, Alan Hamel, made an announcement that her cancer has returned.

In July, Alan told Page Six, “Suzanne has lived with cancer all her life,” mentioning that she had “two hyperplasia” in her 20s.

“We decided to put work on the back burner for now and focus on her health,” he noted.
