Disney expected its first venture into the ballpark of science fiction films to gross the company the same as the Disney parks which is about $250 million. The Hollywood reporter claimed that the sci-fi flick Carter John epically 'flopped' and only managed to payback half its original cost the company losing around 200 million dollars.

2. The Lone Ranger (2013)

The 2013 musical adaptation of the Broadway show 'Cats' is said to cost the producers around 100 million dollars. Cats supposedly returned only an estimated 75 million dollars which marks this production as a 'monetary disappointment' as per the metrics set by the marketing crod. Cats is a show which has now been over claimed as a 'cultural disaster'.

3. 47 Ronin (2013)

Keanu Reeves shined in this production which was said to be set goals as a samurai epic. Failing to impress is an understatement according to the editors of Deadline this production proved to be a fantasy losing over 150 million dollars. The estimated budget to produce this film was around 175 million dollars.

5. Mortal Engines (2018)

The movie was produced by Peter Jackson. It was an adventurous sci-fi movie that was anticipated greatly but turned out to be a failure. According to the BBC, spending $100 million to create the movie was absurd, considering the global box office sale was only $83 million.
