Matthew Perry, who passed away at the age 54, spoke against ketamine in his 2022 memoir, mentioning it made him feel like he was "dying."

According to Page Six , a part of Matthew Perry's memoir from 2022, where he talked about not liking the anesthesia has come back into attention, soon after his autopsy report revealed that he died from the "acute effects of ketamine."

In his book Friends, Lovers, and the Big Terrible: A Memoir, Perry shared his experience receiving ketamine infusions in a Swiss rehab clinic during the pandemic.

He wrote, "Ketamine was a very popular street drug in the 1980s. There is a synthetic form of it now, and it’s used for two reasons: to ease pain and help with depression."

"Has my name written all over it they might as well have called it 'Matty',"Perry explained.

While mentioning undergoing the infusions being blindfolded and listening to music, Perry  described the drug as a "giant exhale."

The 17 Again actor further noted that during the infusions, he would feel disconnected and sometimes felt like he was going "dying."

Perry recalled, "'Oh,' I thought, 'This is what happens when you die.'"

"Yet I would continually sign up for this s–t because it was something different, and anything different is good," he also wrote.

Perry further explained, "Taking K is like being hit in the head with a giant happy shovel. But the hangover was rough and outweighed the shovel," adding, "Ketamine was not for me."

What is Ketamine:

Ketamine is a recreational drug, classified as a  dissociative anesthetic hallucinogen by  the  United States Drug Enforcement Administration.

It is usually used as an anesthetic as well as a line of treatment for depression.

Matthew Perry death:

Matthew Perry, who was best known for his role as Chandler  Bing in the hit sitcom Friends,  died at the age of 54.

He was found unresponsive in a hot bath tub at his home in Los Angeles on October 28, 2023.
