George Carlin daughter Kelly speaks out against AI-generated comedy of her late father
Kelly Carlin denounces AI-generated George Carlin comedy, 'No machine will ever replace his genius'

Kelly Carlin, daughter of the legendary comedian George Carlin, has taken a stand against an AI-generated comedy special featuring her late father.
Expressing adamant disapproval, the George Carlin's American Dream star asserted that no machine could ever replicate the genius and unique wit that defined her father's comedic legacy.
On Tuesday, an hour-long special named George Carlin: I’m Glad I’m Dead surfaced on the YouTube channel of Dudesy, a podcast hosted by Will Sasso and Chad Kultgen.
Dudesy is recognized for its pioneering approach, combining artificial intelligence and comedy, marking it as a groundbreaking media experiment.
In the unique production, the AI-generated representation of George Carlin adopts the comedian's distinctive style and rhythm, providing commentary on contemporary subjects like Elon Musk, Twitter, Tesla, streaming services, and artificial intelligence.
Notably, these topics gained widespread attention well after George Carlin's passing in 2008.
On Wednesday, Carlin's daughter expressed on X (former Twitter)mthat they had not authorized or granted permission for the project.
She began, “My statement regarding the AI-generated George Carlin special: My dad spent a lifetime perfecting his craft from his very human life, brain and imagination.”
The Devil In The Flesh star continued, “No machine will ever replace his genius,” adding, “These AI-generated products are clever attempts at trying to recreate a mind that will never exist again.”

Carline went on to say, “Let’s let the artist’s work speak for itself. Humans are so afraid of the void that we can’t let what has fallen into it stay there.”
She concluded her statement, “Here’s an idea, how about we give some actual living human comedians a listen to? But if you want to listen to the genuine George Carlin, he has 14 specials that you can find anywhere.”
