Matthew Perry’s mother has spoken out in anger following a guilty plea from his former assistant, delivering a powerful victim impact statement that accuses him of betraying the actor’s trust in the months leading up to his death.

Suzanne Morrison condemned former assistant Kenneth Iwamasa after he admitted to conspiracy to distribute ketamine in connection with Perry’s fatal overdose in October 2023.

Perry was found dead at his Los Angeles home, a loss that shocked fans worldwide and prompted multiple investigations into the circumstances surrounding his death.

In her statement, Morrison described Iwamasa as someone who was meant to act as her son’s “companion and guardian” during his struggle with addiction, but instead became part of the chain of events that led to tragedy.

According to documents obtained by PEOPLE, she alleged that Iwamasa repeatedly supplied and injected Perry with illegal substances despite what she described as clear and escalating risks to his safety.

She further claimed he continued sourcing drugs even as Perry’s condition worsened, contributing to a situation that spiraled beyond control.

Morrison said the actor, known for his role in Friends, ultimately “paid the price” for trusting the wrong people during his battle with addiction.

The grieving mother also expressed discomfort over claims that Iwamasa attempted to maintain contact with the family after Perry’s death, suggesting it felt inappropriate in the wake of their loss.

Describing her son as her “heart and soul,” Morrison said no legal outcome could ever bring true closure, adding that the pain of his loss would remain with her permanently.
