Reese Witherspoon playfully responded to critics who were upset about her eating snow in a TikTok video that surfaced on the internet and received backlash.

Recently, Witherspoon posted a TikTok video where she addressed the criticism from a commenter.

In response to a user's comment, who wrote, "No no no.. snow is not made to eat.. you can seriously get sick," the Big Little Lies actor replied, "OK, discussing the snow not being filtered, I didn't grow up drinking filtered water."

She further explained, “We drank out of the tap water. We actually put our mouths on the tap and then sometimes like in the summer, when it was hot, we drank out of the hose, like, we put our mouth on the hose, growing up.”

Witherspoon then jokingly said, “Maybe that’s why I’m like this, so what you’re saying to me is I have to filter the snow before I eat it? I just can’t. Filtered snow. I don’t know how to do that.”

The controversy began when the 47-year-old actress shared a TikTok video on January 19, 2024, demonstrating a recipe using freshly fallen snow to make Chococinnos.

In the video, Witherspoon scooped snow off a car and mixed it with cold brew, salted caramel syrup, and chocolate syrup for a tasty treat.

She also explained that they had a lot of snow in Nashville, where she spends part of her time, and decided to make the recipe.

This led to some people not being impressed with the Cruel Intentions actress' snow recipe.

In the comments section of the video, one user commented,  “Can you put snow in a clear cup and let it melt I just want to see if it’s safe to eat first."

While another user defended the actress, writing, "Fallen snow can be very dirty from the air and wind, but who cares. You only live once. I remember eating snow as a kid."
