Paul McCartney reunites with his stolen guitar 50 years later
Paul McCartney's guitar was stolen back in 1972
Paul McCartney found his bass guitar which was stolen back in 1972 with the help of his dedicated fanbase.
According to an official statement on the rock legend's website, it was announced that McCartney’s iconic Höfner electric bass guitar, which was stolen over five decades ago, was found and returned back to his possession.
“Following the launch of last year's Lost Bass project, Paul’s 1961 Höfner 500/1 bass guitar, which was stolen in 1972, has been returned,” the statement posted on McCartney’s website read.

Expressing gratitude to the fans, the statement continued, “The guitar has been authenticated by Höfner and Paul is incredibly grateful to all those involved.”
This news comes several months after a group of fans initiated a project titled, The Lost Bass Project, which was created in order to track down the Rock and Roll Hall of Famer's 1961 bass.
McCartney’s Höfner 500/1 bass guitar, which was lost sometime after 1969, has been deemed as one of the “most important bass in history.”
After the bass’s retrieval, a statement on The Lost Pass Project’s website said that the instrument was found along with its original case and will be playable again after undergoing some minor repairs.
