America Ferrera added another feather to her cap as she won People's Choice Award for performance of the year in Greta Gerwig’s directorial Barbie.

Ferrera in her acceptance speech at the People’s Choice Award held in Santa Monica on Sunday sang praises for Barbie and also expressed gratitude towards Gerwig and the film’s lead Margot Robbie.

The 39-year-old actress began her speech teasing the singer and song writer of the hit Barbie track What Was I Made For? Billie Eilish, saying, “"I'm only here because I want Billie Eilish to be my best friend. Billie, what do you say?"

She went on to thanks the people on her achievement, noting, "Oh my goodness, thank you to everybody who voted for me and voted for Barbie. Whether you saw Barbie in the theater one time or 20 times, I know there are some of you out there — thank you for showing up with your friends and your family all dressed in your fabulous pink."

Ferrera used the opportunity to “thank the incomparable Greta Gerwig and Margot Robbie," adding, "Yes, yes, yes, all the flowers to both Greta and Margot for inviting me to represent the entire human race in Barbie Land."

She added, "You're welcome. I hope I did you proud."

Ferrara went on to express her gratitude saying, "It feels like a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to be a part of such a bold and inspiring masterpiece and to get to speak words of truth that so many of us needed to hear out loud."

The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants star added that Barbie "is an invitation to all of us to embrace our full selves as we already are; uniquely, gloriously and perfectly human."

America Ferrara beat out on other nominees in the same category including her costar in Barbie Simu Liu, Danielle Brooks from The Color Purple, Saltburn's Jacob Elordi, May December's Charles Melton and Natalie Portman, Melissa McCarthy from The Little Mermaid and Air's Viola Davis.
