WhatsApp’s new feature can add Instagram links to user profile
WhatsApp has rolled out a new feature, allowing users to add links to their social media profiles directly to their WhatsApp accounts.
Available with the WhatsApp Android app, version 2.25.7.9, the feature is currently being tested with select beta users.
This new feature aims to provide convenience by enabling users to share their social media profiles with contacts directly through WhatsApp.
Once a social media username is added, the link will appear at the top of the chat info page, making it easy for contacts to visit the profile with just one tap.
Currently, only Instagram profile links can be added; however, support for other social media platforms is expected in upcoming updates.
The feature will also enable users to share their online presence more comprehensively.
To ensure user control and privacy, WhatsApp has introduced settings to manage who can see the linked social media profiles.
Additionally, WhatsApp users can choose to share links with everyone, only their contacts, or keep them private. These settings can be adjusted at any time.
It's important to note that adding a link to a social media profile does not verify ownership of the account.
Since this feature is optional, WhatsApp users who prefer to keep their profiles private can skip it.
