Prince Harry loses legal battle over UK security

Prince Harry faces a major setback after being unsuccessful in his legal dispute regarding the levels of security arrangements for him and his family in the United Kingdom.

The 40-year-old Duke of Sussex had been quite open about his concerns regarding his return to the country with his family, wife Meghan Markle and his two children Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, without proper security and filed an appeal for restoration of government-funded armed police protection.

However, on Friday May 02, it turns out that the Duke’s appeal for increased protection for him and his family was dismissed by a senior judge.

After his lawyers claimed that he had been "singled out" for "inferior treatment," the court ruled that the process was legal and the decision they had reached was made fairly.

The judge ruled that Harry’s concerns and unease over how the security decision was made did not justify allowing an appeal and was rejected.

It is pertinent to note that although the Prince had claimed that his and his family’s lives were at "stake," the court issued a ruling against him.

This legal battle had begun after the Duke and the Duchess of Sussex had withdrawn from key Royal duties, five years ago in January 2020 and decided to leave the country.

They currently reside in Montecito, California with their nuclear family.
