Queen Camilla reveals personal 'marvellous' letter in touching Instagram tribute
Queen Camilla praises 'marvellous' nurses on International Nurses' Day
The Royal Family's official Instagram account has offered a glimpse into a personal message from Queen Camilla, posted to mark International Nurses' Day on May 12. The post features a letter from the Queen, written on cream-coloured stationery bearing the Royal coat of arms, addressed directly to the specialist nurses of a children's charity close to her heart.
In the heartfelt note, the Queen praises the recipients for their "compassion, professionalism, cheerfulness and remarkable ability to ‘make things happen’". She concludes the letter, which sits alongside a charming Quentin Blake-style illustration, by writing, "You are all, quite simply, marvellous!" before signing off with a personal "Camilla R".
A 'marvellous' cause
The letter was addressed to the nurses of Roald Dahl's Marvellous Children's Charity, an organisation for which Queen Camilla has served as Royal Patron since 2017.
The charity, which celebrates its 35th anniversary this year, provides specialist nurses and support for seriously ill children with complex, lifelong conditions across the United Kingdom.
The tribute, shared with the caption "we offer our warmest thanks", was warmly received online. One user commented, "Huge respect to all nurses across the UK and Commonwealth. Your dedication brings hope and comfort every day."
The personal gesture comes during a busy period for the royals, who recently returned from a state visit to the US and are preparing for major events including Trooping the Colour in June, highlighting the importance the Queen places on the cause.
