Is Taylor Swift to blame for Travis Kelce's career slump?

Taylor Swift has recently become the subject of heavy criticism due to her boyfriend’s major career setbacks.

It is pertinent to mention that the 35-year-old NFL star has experienced significant career lows, recording only 823 yards record last season, and with the Kansas City Chiefs missing out on a historic third consecutive Super Bowl title.

However, these setbacks have not only impacted Kelce but have also landed the Blank Space songstress in hot water.

What sparked the controversy was an NFL analyst and former coach blaming Swift as one of the key reasons behind the Chiefs tight end’s disappointing performance, according to Page Six.

Eric Mangini, former coach of the New York Jets and Cleveland Browns, criticised Kelce’s highly public relationship with the billionaire pop sensation.

He claimed that the couple’s budding romance significantly contributed to Kelce’s underwhelming performance in 2024 compared to previous seasons.

The 54-year-old American football coach also pointed to the athlete’s growing media presence, including shows like Are You Smarter Than a Celebrity?, Grotesquerie, and his podcast, New Heights with Jason & Travis Kelce.

"He had the relationship, he had the new TV show, he had the game show, he had the podcast, he was coming off a back-to-back short offseason," Mangini pointed out.

He continued, "That is a lot of stuff for a guy that is that late in his career."

However, towards the end Mangini realised that he’s "taking some time to reload."

It is worth mentioning that Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce have been dating since summer of 2023.
