Celebrities who are on the verge of EGOT glory

Winning an EGOT, means winning an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony, is one of the highest honors in entertainment. Only a some of the exceptional performers have ever achieved it. But several of today’s biggest stars are closer than ever, with just one more trophy standing between them and elite status.

Here’s a look at who’s on the brink:

Adele:

Adele, who is an iconic vocalist has already won 16 Grammys, including two Album of the Year wins, as well as an Oscar for her James Bond anthem Skyfall and an Emmy for Adele One Night Only in 2022.

The Easy on Me hit maker only needs a Tony to complete her EGOT rank.

Lady Gaga:

Lady Gaga has made a career on versatility, from her genre bending music to her much admired acting. The fans favourite actress has claimed 14 Grammy wins and 28 nominations.

Moreover, she won an Oscar for "Shallow" from A Star Is Born, and even a Sports Emmy for her Super Bowl performance. All these wins made her a living legend. However, The Bad Romance hit maker only needs a Tony to secure EGOT status.

Cher:

The legendary icon has been dazzling fans for decades, with an Oscar for Moonstruck, a Grammy for Believe, and an Emmy for Cher: The Farewell Tour. The only missing piece? A Tony.

However, Cher has not personally got a Tony, but The Cher Show, a Broadway jukebox musical based on her life, took home two Tony Awards in 2019.

Eminem:

Rap’s biggest name is closer than you might think. Eminem holds 15 Grammys, an Oscar for Lose Yourself from 8 Mile, and an Emmy for the 2022 Super Bowl Halftime Show. Like many on this list, he only lacks a Tony.

Maggie Smith:

Maggie Smith has won two Oscars, four Emmys, and a Tony, which is an evidence to her unmatched talent across movies, television, and stage. Her first Oscar was for her role in The Prime of Miss Jean Brodie. And later she won her second Oscar as a best supporting actress in California Suite.

Her Tony win came in 1990 for Lettice and Lovage, while her Emmy triumphs include multiple awards for Downton Abbey.

Common:

Common was the first rapper to win Grammy, Oscar and Emmy awards. He has been nominated for more than 20 Grammy Awards and won three.

The rapper won his first Grammy for Love of My Life (An Ode to Hip Hop). He and John Legend won best original song for the number at the 2015 Oscars.

Moreover, Common won an Emmy in 2017 in the outstanding original music and lyrics category.

He is just a Tony away from getting an EGOT distinction.
