‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’ movie in the works: Details and spoilers inside
Check out everything in development for the future of ‘The Summer I Turned Pretty’

The Summer I Turned Pretty recently concluded its run at Amazon Prime Video with its third season’s final episode, which aired on September 17.
In the show’s finale, Belly (Lola Tung) ends up choosing Conrad (Christopher Briney) “of my own free will”, according to her romantic declaration.
With its one huge summer’s conclusion, the series is still set to return — this time, as a movie
Here’s what you need to know:
One last milestone
The show’s continuation as a movie was announced by Jenny Han, co-showrunner and writer of The Summer I Turned Pretty book series as well as the show.
“There is another big milestone left in Belly’s journey, and I thought only a movie could give it its proper due. I’m so grateful to Prime Video for continuing to support my vision for this story and for making it possible to share this final chapter with the fans,” she said, while attending the red carpet celebration for the show’s finale in Paris.
According to Elle, Han will also write and direct the project, “ensuring the movie stays true to the heart and soul that made the series a global phenomenon.”
While the film’s plot and release date is still under wraps, it is being regarded as “the definitive conclusion” to the show’s main love triangle.
Will there be a season 4?
The movie’s announcement has further given rise to speculations about whether the show, which initially premiered in 2022, may return for a fourth season.
However, that doesn’t seem to be the case, as confirmed by Han.
She previously shared the news while also revealing why the show’s final season consisted of 11 episodes, compared to the first and second seasons’ seven and eight episodes respectively.
“We needed more canvas for the story, so that’s how we ended up with 11 episodes. But yeah, three books, three seasons. It feels right to me,”she told Entertainment Weekly back in May.
Spinoff
Despite her reluctance to revive The Summer I Turned Pretty for a fourth season, Han has reported that she is not against the idea for a potential spinoff.
While hinting at such a possibility, the show’s creator told Los Angeles Times, “I’m definitely open to doing more stories in the universe, it’s just that I want to figure out what the story is that I feel so compelled to tell it that I’m willing to spend the next few years throwing my whole body into it.”
