Many popular TV shows have been adapted into movies to keep fans excited. Below are the seven shows that have turned into movies:
The Summer I Turned Pretty
The Summer I Turned Pretty, which blew up the internet over the last few years, is set to return with a feature film.
Jenny Han, who wrote the coming-of-age trilogy from which the the romantic series was adapted, will return to write and direct the film.
Hannah Montana
Hannah Montana was adapted into a feature-length movie titled Hannah Montana: The Movie, which was released on April 10, 2009.
The film was a result of the popularity of the Disney show and featured Miley Cyrus reprising her role as Miley Stewart/ Hannah Montana
Mr. Bean
Mr. Bean was turned into movies, with Rowan Atkinson starring into two feature films: Bean (1997) and Mr. Bean’s Holiday (2007).
Additionally, Rowan starred in a recent Netflix series, Man vs Baby, which was released in May 2025.
Sex and the City
Sex and the City turned into two feature films: Sex and the City (2008) and Sex and the City 2 (2010).
The original cast, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis, Cynthia Nixon, and Kim Cattrall, reunited for the movies, which continued the story of the friends after the series finale.
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles started as a comic book and was adapted into an animated television series in 1987.
The 2014 live-action film starred Megan Fox and Will Arnett.
Dora the Explorer
The Dora the Explorer franchise has had two live-action movies so far: Dora and the Lost City of Gold (2019) and Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado (2025).
To note, Dora and the Search for Sol Dorado is the most recent film, premiering in July 2025 and serving as a separate sequel to the 2019 movie.
Veronica Mars
Veronica Mars returned in a fan-funded movie in 2014 and a Hulu revival season in 2019, both starring Kristen Bell.
The original series, which ran from 2004 to 2007, was followed by the 2014 film exploring Veronica’s life after school and the 2019 Hulu series picking up where the movie left off.
