Prince William’s temper questioned after reports of heated confrontations
Prince William’s fiery temper reportedly contrasts his calm and polished public image
Public fascination with the British royal family often centres on their grace and formality but recent reports suggest Prince William’s private persona may differ from his polished public image.
Allegations of tension, impatience, and a fiery temper have resurfaced through memoirs, insiders, and royal commentators, sparking renewed debate about the future king’s demeanor.
A report by Mirror US quoted former royal photographer Ian Pelham Turner, who claimed William has become “more formal” in recent years, allegedly insisting on being called “Sir.”
Turner added that some staff members described him as “very aggressive.” He recalled, “I know one of his many supporters for his housing charity... and he was telling me that William is constantly on to him all day, all night, saying, ‘How much money have we made?’”
Prince Harry’s memoir Spare added to the controversy, recounting an incident where William allegedly grabbed him by the collar, ripped his necklace, and knocked him down during a dispute about Meghan.
Biographer Tom Quinn also described “terrible rows” between William and Kate, while even Queen Camilla reportedly found his arguments with Charles “shocking.”
Historical anecdotes point to an early temper childhood peers nicknamed him “Billy the Basher,” and old footage shows him elbowing King Charles.
Though the palace remains silent, accounts of raised voices and confrontations are challenging the image of a calm and measured heir.
Whether isolated moments or signs of deeper temperament, Prince William’s rumored short fuse continues to intrigue both critics and admirers alike.
