OpenAI has achieved a major milestone, marking its dominance in the artificial intelligence (AI) race.

The Sam Altman-owned company announced that more than one million businesses are now using its AI tools, from ChatGPT Enterprise and ChatGPT Business to its powerful API platform.

OpenAI’s Chief Operating Officer (COO), Brad Lightcap, shared the news on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “We are grateful to the more than 1 million business customers building with us.”

He described the achievement as a landmark moment, calling OpenAI “the fastest-growing business platform in history.”

The company revealed that its technology is being used across multiple industries, including finance, healthcare, retail, and design, transforming everything from customer service to internal operations.

Big names like Canva, Figma, Zillow, Spotify, Shopify, Etsy, Walmart, PayPal, and Salesforce are among those integrating ChatGPT into their products and workflows.

OpenAI noted that customers are increasingly adopting “agentic” workflows, where AI tools act autonomously to handle tasks and transactions.

The company’s Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP) is also redefining online shopping by embedding conversational commerce directly into apps.

This milestone comes just weeks after OpenAI inked a $38 billion partnership deal with Amazon Web Services (AWS).

Under the agreement, OpenAI will run its large-scale AI workloads on AWS infrastructure, using hundreds of thousands of Nvidia GPUs across US data centres.
