Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani honor India’s artisans with breathtaking handcrafted portrait

Billianore Mukesh Ambani and his wife, Nita Ambani, turned the launch of Swadesh’s flagship Mumbai store into a powerful tribute to India’s finest artisans.

On December 5, the Swadesh online posted the video of an elegant evening ceremony on Instagram. 

The post shared that the artisans honored Mr and Mrs Ambani with a handcrafted masterpiece made of pashmina, silk, and delicate zari, framed in rich walnut wood, which instantly became the centerpiece of the evening.

Created with pure love of art and vivid details over the span of a full year by master artisans Rafiq Ahmad Sofi and Shahnawaz Ahmad Sofi, the portrait marries four rare heritage techniques.

Mukesh Ambani, impressed by the dedication of the artisans, described the portrait as “phenomenal,” calling it a triumph of human skill in the age of AI, as per Hindustan Times.

Moreover, he highlights the need to protect and pass down India’s cultural wealth.

“This art must move from generation to generation,” he said. “Even in the age of AI, our craftsmanship will endure.”

Nita Ambani also praised the masterpiece, called the piece “stunning,” showing respect for the artist's craftsmanship.
